1June, 960, the artillery engineering department moved to Wuchang, merged with Wuchang Advanced Ordnance Technical School, and established the Chinese People's Liberation Army Artillery Engineering College (later Nanjing University of Science and Technology).
1961May, the Department of Armored Forces Engineering moved to Xi 'an and established the Academy of Armored Forces Engineering of China People's Liberation Army.
196 1 June, the engineering department moved to Xi' an, and the Engineering College of the China People's Liberation Army Corps of Engineers was established (later moved to Nanjing, later changed to the Engineering College of the University of Science and Technology of China).

1966, the newly-built computer department, basic course department and hospital organs were placed under the seventh bureau of the Ministry of Machinery Industry, and moved to Changsha to establish Changsha Institute of Technology.
1978 was transformed into the National University of Defense Technology of the People's Liberation Army and returned to the military sequence; The Air Force Engineering Department was transferred to the Third Ministry of Machinery Industry, moved to Xi 'an and merged into Northwestern Polytechnical University. The Department of Atomic Engineering was placed under the Second Ministry of Machinery Industry and moved to Chongqing, where it was associated with Harbin Institute of Technology to form Chongqing University of Technology (later, the Department was transferred and merged into National University of Defense Technology). The Department of Atomic Engineering finally stayed in Harbin, and the Department of Naval Engineering established Harbin Institute of Ship Engineering. The Department of Naval Engineering is placed under the Sixth Ministry of Machinery Industry, and it is planned to move to Wuhan, leaving the original site to form Harbin Institute of Shipbuilding Engineering (later Harbin Engineering University).
Harbin Military Industry has successively established 10 departments: Air Force Department (Xigong University), Artillery Department (South Institute of Technology), Naval Department (Harbin Project), Armored Forces Department (Academy of Armored Forces Engineering), Engineering Department (Academy of Engineering), Chemical Defense Department (Institute of Chemical Defense), Atomic Department (Harbin Project) and Missile Department (Harbin Project).
At present, the original school site was established in Harbin Engineering University (Harbin Project).
