The five 2 1 1 universities are University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, Sichuan University, Southwestern University of Finance and Economics, Southwest Jiaotong University and Sichuan Agricultural University. Chengdu University is not on the list, so Chengdu University is neither 985 nor 2 1 1 university.

Chengdu University, located in Chengdu, Sichuan Province, is a comprehensive university jointly established by Sichuan Province and Chengdu, a key construction university in Chengdu, a national defense education university with characteristics of the Ministry of Education, and a project construction unit authorized by Sichuan Province for doctoral degrees. By March 2023, the school has 19 colleges, offering 69 undergraduate majors. Master authorizes 9 first-level disciplines and master authorizes 16 categories; Full-time teachers 172 1, and more than 27,000 full-time students (including more than 2,200 graduate students).
