This course studies crystals and minerals, in which crystallography mainly introduces the basic laws of crystal growth, external morphological characteristics of crystals, internal structural laws of crystals, chemical and physical characteristics of crystals, and mineralogy mainly introduces the chemical composition, internal structure, external morphology, physical and chemical properties, genetic conditions and formation laws of minerals. Through the study of this course, it will lay a solid foundation for the subsequent study of gemology related courses.

2. Gemmology and gemological appraisal

Gemmology mainly introduces the development history, physical and chemical properties, formation conditions, origin, identification, processing and evaluation of gems. Gem identification mainly introduces the principle, structure and operation methods of various commonly used gem identification instruments, the identification characteristics of common gems and the identification methods of similar gems, as well as the identification characteristics and methods of natural products, synthetic products and optimized products of the same gem. Through the study of this course, we can master the physical and chemical properties, identification methods and diamond classification methods of various common jewels and jade.

3. Gemstone style design and processing technology

This course mainly introduces the common types of gem styles, the main principles and design methods of gem style design, the equipment and basic principles of gem processing, and the basic technology and technological process of gem processing. Through this course, students can master the design method of gem styles, master the carving and polishing of common gem styles, and master the evaluation method of gem processing quality.

4. Jewelry design and jewelry inlay technology

This course is divided into two aspects: jewelry design and jewelry inlay. This paper mainly introduces the history of jewelry design, jewelry design principles, jewelry design methods, basic equipment, tools, raw materials, basic processing technology and jewelry inlay technology. 5. Jewelry evaluation.

This course systematically introduces the basic concepts, theories and methods of jewelry evaluation, evaluation procedures and the preparation of evaluation reports, and explains them with specific evaluation cases. Through the course study, students can master the identification and evaluation of diamonds, colored gems, pearls, jade and jadeware, and finished jewelry.
