? People pay attention to agronomy because it is related to the cultivation of agricultural professionals. The 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China put forward the strategy of rural revitalization, and revitalizing agriculture is its important connotation. To revitalize agriculture, high-level and high-quality agricultural professionals are the fundamental guarantee. Universities set up agricultural colleges on their own initiative, and the speed is very fast, which makes people see that the history of shortage of professionals will no longer exist. With agricultural professionals, agricultural revitalization is just around the corner, so many people are happy. However, many people see that some universities are so eager to set up agricultural colleges to add agronomy majors, lacking rational thinking and being suspected of being hot-headed. They are worried that there will be a utilitarian rush for success, which will backfire, fail to cultivate talents and waste national resources. Therefore, I am skeptical about blindly setting up agronomy major in universities. The author believes that it is a good thing for colleges and universities to adapt to the development of the times and offer agronomy majors on their own initiative, but the premise is that they must be tailored and fully demonstrated, and they should not be emotional and utilitarian. Agronomy "from cold to hot" is the inevitable development of the times, but universities must not have a fever, otherwise it will not only affect the cultivation of agricultural professionals, waste valuable resources, but also affect the development of universities themselves.
For a long time, agriculture, forestry, water, mineral oil and normal colleges are all unpopular majors, because of hard conditions, hard work and poor treatment. Most urban students and rich children disdain these majors, and even rural students and poor students stay away from them. The admission scores of these majors have long been lower than those of popular majors such as finance, finance, trade, software and computer. Every year, these majors of agriculture, forestry and water need lower-grade enrollment and adjustment. Because these majors are unpopular, some universities that used to focus on these majors have to change their ways and offer popular majors to attract candidates and enhance their competitiveness. How many of those agricultural universities in the past are still serious agricultural universities now? Some people are afraid that even agronomy has shrunk into a weak discipline, and the annual enrollment may not be as good as those of non-agricultural disciplines. Theoretically, it should be in line with the development of the times, which is conducive to bringing agronomy out of the cold palace, changing the fate of agronomy and cultivating agricultural and rural professionals.
However, the reason why universities are so active and enthusiastic, under the background of rejuvenating the rural strategy to govern the country, will inevitably lead to similar associations with the motives of setting up majors in the past, that is, there has also been a rush to set up agricultural colleges quickly, and it is estimated that agronomy must "turn from cold to hot", so agronomy majors have been set up one after another. This is by no means people's malicious thoughts, but is evidenced by the establishment of majors in universities in the past. In the past, any major was set up as soon as it was hot, which led to many popular majors blooming everywhere. As a result, the supply of popular majors exceeds demand seriously, and the employment of popular majors is cold, so they have to go to other industries to find jobs. Many college students lament that their majors are not right. If many universities see the popularity of agronomy, especially the enrollment of these universities that will soon set up agricultural colleges has changed a lot, and they will set up agricultural colleges anyway, then there will inevitably be a serious surplus of talents and new contradictions will arise. Isn't it another waste of resources? When a university offers a major, it must consider the demand of the talent market. Eager to set up a popular major obviously deviates from the purpose of running a school.
What is even more worrying is that universities do not have the conditions to offer agronomy majors, but insist on offering agronomy majors for their own self-interest, which is a deep harm to agronomy, college students and even the university itself. As the saying goes, you can't eat hot tofu if you are impatient. The establishment of agricultural college and the opening of agricultural courses are definitely not something that can be done by a temporary passion, otherwise it will be anticlimactic and become a hot potato. Before setting up an agricultural college in a university, you must think twice. Is there an agronomy teacher? Are there any agricultural facilities? Can you attract students? Can it conform to the development of agriculture? These problems need to be comprehensively demonstrated. After strict argumentation, see if the school has the conditions. If the conditions are ripe, it is natural to set up an agricultural college, which can not only train talents for agriculture, but also add points to the reputation of running a school. However, if the conditions are not met, in order to get a job that values agricultural vanity, or to get more special funds from the state finance, it may not only make agronomy a vase, but also hinder the development of the whole university. In the past, some excellent universities were reduced to third-and fourth-rate universities in the torrent of reform. A very important reason is that they are hot-headed and follow the trend to open those popular majors, thinking that they have seized the opportunity and can use these majors to add points to the school. In this way, due to the lack of their own conditions, the newly opened professional courses can be ignored and become the burden of running schools.
What majors a university offers must be tailored to local conditions, and its own strengths and advantages must be brought into play, so that the university can develop better and faster. Hot-headed, emotional, blindly following the trend, seeing hot majors, desperate to get started, this will not only waste resources, but also affect the quality of talents and even their own development.
