Second, Peking University
Peking University Astronomy Department was formally established in 2000, and its predecessor was Astronomy Department of Peking University Geophysics Department. Over the past 40 years, the astronomy discipline in Peking University has trained hundreds of outstanding graduates for the country, including three academicians of China Academy of Sciences, and four successively served as the director and deputy director of the Observatory. A considerable number of graduates have become important academic backbones in the field of astronomy at home and abroad and made important contributions to the development of astronomy in China.
Peking University Astronomy Department was jointly established by Peking University and China Academy of Sciences with the strong support of both sides. Running a school jointly with Beijing Astrophysics Center constitutes an organic whole, giving full play to their respective advantages, further strengthening the teaching staff, improving the conditions for running a school, and promoting the close cooperation between the two sides in personnel training and scientific research.
The Department of Astronomy in Peking University has undergraduate and master's degree programs in astronomy, doctoral degree programs and postdoctoral mobile stations. There are 7 professors (including 2 academicians, Changjiang distinguished professor 1 person, 7 doctoral supervisors) and 4 associate professors. Astronomy teachers have made many important research achievements in the fields of galaxies and cosmology, high energy astrophysics, radio astrophysics, molecular astronomy, gas nebula physics and stellar physics, and some of them have reached the international advanced level. Astronomy teachers have established close cooperative relations with astronomers from the United States, Germany, France, Britain, Australia, Canada, Russia and other countries.
Third, Nanjing University.
The Department of Astronomy of Nanjing University aims to cultivate talents with professional knowledge of astronomy who are fully developed morally, intellectually and physically. Students are required to have a solid foundation in mathematics and physics, master the basic knowledge of astronomy, and become graduate reserve talents with innovative spirit and practical ability and applied talents in aerospace and other fields.
Main courses: college mathematics, college physics, general astronomy, data processing, fluid mechanics, celestial mechanics, spherical astronomy, measurement astrophysics, theoretical astrophysics, galaxy physics, etc.
Fourth, Beijing Normal University
The Astronomy Department of Beijing Normal University was established in 1960, which is the second astronomy department established in Chinese universities and has made important contributions to the cultivation of astronomical talents, scientific research and technological innovation, and popular science education. The orientation and goal of the Astronomy Department of Beijing Normal University: first-class in China and influential internationally, that is, to build a research team with international reputation, international competitiveness and influence, and cultivate outstanding astronomical talents.
There are 33 employees in the Department of Astronomy, including professor 14, associate professor 8, lecturer 5 and administrative assistant 6, including distinguished professor 1, Changjiang Scholar of the Ministry of Education 1, winner of the National Outstanding Youth Fund 1, winner of the National Outstanding Youth Fund 2 and winner of the New Century Outstanding Talents Support Program of the Ministry of Education 4. The department of astronomy has doctoral and master's programs in astrophysics, as well as master's programs in celestial mechanics and astrometry, optics and astronomy education. Astrophysics is a key discipline in Beijing and a key discipline at the school level. There is an astronomy Post-Doctoral Research Center in the astronomy department. Astronomy major is the construction site of the Ministry of Education, and it is a characteristic major in Beijing. Introduction to Astronomy is a national excellent course. 1 won the Beijing Teacher Award and the Beijing Higher Education Teaching Achievement Award for many times. Establish long-term cooperative partnership with domestic observatories. At present, there are gravitational wave and cosmology laboratory, modern astronomy laboratory and comprehensive astronomy education laboratory, Xinglong astronomy practice base jointly built by Beijing Normal University and National Astronomical Observatory, and astronomy education practice base jointly built by astronomy discipline and Yunnan Astronomical Observatory. The students trained by the Department of Astronomy have a simple style of study, a solid foundation in mathematics and physics, strong observation and hands-on ability, well-trained astronomical calculation and scientific research, and good teamwork ability, which are widely welcomed and praised by employers.
