A Brief Introduction to the Specialty of School of Information Science and Technology, Jinan University
Department of Electronic Engineering, School of Information Science and Technology, Jinan University was established in 1987. Up to now, a high-quality teaching and research team with doctors and masters as the main body and reasonable echelon structure has been formed. There are 44 faculty members in the Department of Electronic Engineering. The current head of the department is Professor Huang Junkai, the secretary of the General Party Branch is Mr. Zhu Jiaming, and the assistant to the head of the department is Associate Professor Zheng Liming. At present, there are 275 undergraduates and 0/50 postgraduates.

In recent years, the Department of Electronic Engineering has built a trinity discipline system integrating talent training, scientific research and scientific and technological development around two major disciplines: information and communication engineering and electronic science and technology. In the main research directions of optical communication and multimedia network information technology, microelectronics and integrated circuit design, measurement and control technology and biomedical information system, a discipline team with certain characteristics and advantages, scientific research achievements and patented technology has been formed. In the past two years, 50 academic papers published by teachers have been included in SCI, EI and ISTP. In the past three years, teachers have presided over more than 30 national and provincial natural science foundation projects, key scientific and technological projects, and Guangdong-Hong Kong bidding projects, with a vertical research fund of nearly 10 million yuan.

At present, the Department of Electronic Engineering has a master's degree in information and communication engineering, two master's degree programs in communication and information systems and signal and information processing, and a master's degree program in electronics and communication engineering. At the undergraduate education level, there are three enrollment majors: electronic information engineering, communication engineering and electronic science and technology, which basically form a relatively complete layout of electrical information majors, among which electronic information engineering was rated as the first batch of 12 provincial famous brands in Guangdong Province at the end of 2000/kloc-0. In terms of practical teaching and scientific research hardware construction, the Guangdong Electronic Information Technology Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center of Jinan University, the Key Laboratory of Modern Electronic Technology of Guangdong Provincial Education Department of Jinan University and electronics and communication engineering College of Jinan University were built, which strongly supported and promoted the construction and development of innovative talent training system and subject scientific research platform of electronic engineering department.

In the past five years, the Department of Electronic Engineering has concentrated on the idea of "multi-dimensional structure" based on knowledge mastery, focusing on ability training, aiming at quality improvement and taking innovation as the core. Relying on a number of national and provincial education and teaching reform projects, we won 1 national teaching achievement award and 3 provincial teaching achievement awards around the core issues of professional construction and education reform in the new century, such as the design orientation of education model, the optimized combination of curriculum system, the comprehensive update of teaching content, the development and application of educational technology, the reconstruction and construction of experimental base, the enjoyment of experimental resources and the incentive incubation of personnel training. Two basic courses, Fundamentals of Electronic Circuits and Microcomputer Principle and Interface Technology, are approved as provincial-level excellent courses in Guangdong Province, and nearly 10 volumes of teaching materials and multimedia teaching software have been published.

The Department of Electronic Engineering has made outstanding achievements in personnel training. In recent years, its students have won 4 national awards and more than 40 provincial awards in the National Electronic Design Competition and the Challenge Cup Science and Technology Works Competition. In addition, students also applied for six national patents, and two innovative achievements were listed as the "Six Ones" exhibition of Guangdong's scientific and technological achievements and the investment promotion projects of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade. Over the past 20 years, the Department of Electronic Engineering has trained a number of innovative outstanding graduates, including Wei, vice president of Jinshan Software Research Institute who won the second prize of 200 1 National Science and Technology Progress Award for developing "WPS2000 Intelligent Integrated Office System". The Department of Mathematics of Jinan University was founded in 1929. In the past 70 years, especially since the reform and opening-up, the department of mathematics has continuously deepened the reform of teaching and scientific research, adjusted the professional direction and training objectives, strengthened the foundation, attached importance to application, and cultivated diversification. From a single mathematics major, it has developed into a large department with the conditions to train master of science, master of engineering, master of management, bachelor of science and bachelor of management.

The department of mathematics has two master's degree authorization points: basic mathematics and applied mathematics; Establish master's degree authorization points with School of Management and Zhuhai College: management science and engineering; Building a master's degree with the School of Economics: Probability and Mathematical Statistics. The Department of Mathematics now has three undergraduate majors: Mathematics and Applied Mathematics, Information and Computational Science, Information Management and Information System, among which Information Management and Information System is the first undergraduate major established by the Department of Mathematics in Guangdong. 1993.

The Department of Mathematics has a team of teachers with solid basic theory, high academic level and rigorous scholarship. There are 36 faculty members in the department, including 32 full-time teachers, 8 professors, 3 associate professors/kloc-0 and 8 lecturers. Full-time teachers have a high academic level, including 18 teachers with doctoral degrees (including 6 postdoctoral students) and 6 masters. The department reference room has a collection of 17000 volumes and more than 460 Chinese and foreign periodicals. There are more than 100 microcomputers and 1 small computer servers in the computer lab. The computer laboratory, reference room, office, academic affairs office and teacher's studio in the department have all established campus network microcomputer workstations, which provide a platform for teaching, scientific research and management to enjoy resources. Rich library and network resources have greatly met the scientific research needs of teachers and students.

The Department of Mathematics pays attention to cultivating students' exploration spirit and innovative thinking, creating an atmosphere of advocating true knowledge and pursuing truth, encouraging students to study independently, broadening the professional caliber, and creating a relaxed environment for the full development of students' endowment and potential. The students of our department have achieved excellent results in the national mathematical modeling competition for college students and the American mathematical modeling competition, won the first prize in the national mathematical modeling competition for college students and the American mathematical modeling competition for many times, and published many excellent papers in publications. The Computer Department of Jinan University was founded in 1984, and its predecessor was from the Computer Teaching and Research Section of the Department of Mathematics. Our department was awarded the master's degree of 1990, and it is one of the earlier master's programs in computer software in South China. At present, it has two master's degrees in computer software and theory and computer application technology, and also has a master's degree in computer technology. There are three undergraduate majors: computer science and technology, software engineering, computer and information technology (overseas), among which computer science and technology has been rated as a famous brand major in Guangdong Province. It has played an important role in cultivating high-level information industry and high-tech talents overseas, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan regions and Guangdong Province, and promoting scientific and technological progress, economic construction and social development, and will continue to make significant contributions. For a long time, our department has been trying to explore the teaching reform scheme of computer specialty, and strive to adapt the teaching plan, teaching content, teaching methods and teaching means to the requirements of modern social development for talent training objectives. To sum up, the research level of teaching reform in some aspects of the province has begun to take shape, from shallow to deep, from partial to comprehensive, from small to large. This process can be divided into two stages:

The first stage: 1992- 1996

During this period, the computer software major has established that its professional development must face the future, the world and modernization, put forward a general education mode teaching system for cultivating interdisciplinary and compound talents with wide caliber, thick foundation and strong adaptability, and made a new teaching reform plan for computer software major, realizing the transformation from narrow professional caliber to broad professional caliber. Its teaching reform achievements have been affirmed by the school.

In the new teaching reform mode, the class hours are further compressed, and the curriculum structure is divided into three levels: basic courses of public education, core courses of five modules, and specialized courses in four directions. Pay attention to foreign language and computer teaching for four years. At the same time, in order to strengthen engineering training and cultivate students' ability to work independently, we should vigorously reform experimental methods, introduce CAI teaching into basic courses, and set up special research courses to let students participate in scientific research as soon as possible. Therefore, students have strong original ability and have achieved excellent results in science and technology competitions many times.

Phase II: 1996-2005

After many years of teaching reform practice, we have learned and studied the latest trends of teaching reform at home and abroad. According to the requirements of the adjustment of majors in colleges and universities by the Ministry of Education and the needs of teaching reform, we have further changed the traditional teaching mode of computer software specialty, and gradually formed theoretical teaching and quality improvement with students as the center, knowledge as the basis and skills and ability training as the focus.

Therefore, the focus of this stage of reform is to re-integrate the structure and content of the original computer core curriculum, focus on the overall optimization, long-term role and sustainable development of the curriculum, reform some courses, and try them out in the 98-level teaching plan. At the same time, the latest original English textbooks from the United States are introduced into some core courses.

In the aspect of laboratory construction, the original basic laboratory layout is adjusted to form 4~5 computer basic experimental courses which are integrated and infiltrated with each other. And build a laboratory with * * *, openness, improved teaching level, advanced technology and management, and good social benefits. The construction of this laboratory provides a successful example for exploring how to establish a new laboratory construction model, how to inject high-tech experimental content into the 2 1 century, and adopt modern experimental methods and means, which has produced certain social impact.

At the same time, we have been trying to explore the direction of education and teaching reform of computer specialty, and strive to build a modern curriculum system and teaching content that is consistent with the diversified talent training model in 2 1 century and adapts to the development trend of science and technology and knowledge economy. Up to now, a general education model based on all-round development has been initially formed, and the all-round development of modular theoretical course teaching and experimental course teaching has been completed with systematic multi-level laboratories as hardware support. On the knowledge platform of modern computer science, the mutual infiltration and integration of intellectual factors and non-intellectual factors have been realized, and interdisciplinary and generalists with innovative ability have been cast. Under the guidance of this reform idea, combined with the characteristics of overseas Chinese characters in our school and the characteristics of our department, some teaching reform projects have been carried out in this discipline. In addition, our department has also presided over some provincial and school-level educational reform projects and published many teaching materials. At the same time, we have developed several CAI courseware ourselves. Moreover, the multi-dimensional knowledge structure, comprehensive quality of compound talents and pioneering new ability of graduates in this discipline are reflected in the process of employment competition, further study and practical work, and are widely welcomed and well evaluated by employers at home and abroad. Therefore, the teaching reform of computer science and specialty in our department is at the forefront of Guangdong Province in terms of breadth, advancement, effectiveness and its own characteristics.

2011September, Zhuhai College of School of Information Science and Technology of Jinan University officially moved to Guangzhou Campus. At this point, the external campus of Jinan University has all returned to the Guangzhou campus, and the three-year college relocation plan has been completed. Freshmen of Grade 20 12 are temporarily studying and living in the Chinese Language Institute, and move back to the headquarters one year later.
