The undergraduate campus is in Changping, and it takes about 40 minutes to Jishuitan. The campus area is relatively small, or very small, and there are often more than 200 acres of land similar to rural middle schools. But the campus environment is not bad, with greening, swings and pavilions. There are six teaching buildings, including five four-story ABCDE buildings (now renamed Duansheng Building Houde Building ...) and one 14-story administrative building. In 1980s, it was the tallest building in Changping District, and Yifu Building was newly built. There are nine or ten six-story student dormitories. The conditions of undergraduate dormitory are not good. There are six and four dormitories, but they are all traditional dormitories, with bunk beds or tables, not apartment-style, and the two canteens have two floors each.

The school was born in 1952, formerly known as "Beijing Institute of Political Science and Law", which was formed by the merger of law, political science and sociology from Peking University, Tsinghua University, yenching university and Fu Jen Catholic University during the period of "faculty adjustment" in New China. Cancelled for some reason during the Cultural Revolution, 1978 resumed. 1983, under the direct promotion of the central authorities, Beijing University of Political Science and Law merged with the Central Cadre College of Political Science and Law to form China University of Political Science and Law.
