Lanzhou Jiaotong University, located in Lanzhou City, Gansu Province, is a university established by China Railway Corporation, State Railway Administration and Gansu Provincial People's Government, and supported by Tianjin University, Beijing Jiaotong University and Southwest Jiaotong University.

The historical origin of the school can be traced back to the Shanhaiguan Beiyang Railway Official School established in 1896 and the Beijing Railway Management Institute established in 1909. 1958 In May, the headquarters of Tangshan Railway Institute (now Southwest Jiaotong University) and Beijing Railway Institute (now Beijing Jiaotong University) were established and moved to Lanzhou.
1June 1959 was designated as a key institution of higher learning by the Ministry of Railways, and 196 1 April 1998 was listed as a key institution of higher learning by the Ministry of Railways.
