Undergraduates who entered the campus of Shanghai University in the autumn semester of September, 2004 must pass the 50-meter swimming test, and the swimming test results will be recorded in the Basic physical education class. If they fail to pass the swimming test before graduation, they will not get credit for basic physical education courses. Students can complete the 50-meter swimming test in swimming class or go to the swimming pool for the test during extracurricular activities. Students who suffer from some chronic diseases or are not suitable for swimming exercise can apply for exemption from the exam at the Institute of Physical Education on the basis of their personal medical history and relevant supporting materials for hospital diagnosis.
