China Geo University (Beijing) is a national key university directly under the Ministry of Education and built by the Ministry of Land and Resources, which is characterized by geology, resources, environment, geoscience engineering technology and resource industry economy, and has the coordinated development of science, engineering, literature, management, economics and law. It is the first batch of key construction universities in China, namely "2 1 1 Engineering" and "985 Engineering Advantage Discipline Innovation Platform".
China Geo University (Beijing) is located in Xueyuan Road, Haidian District, Beijing. Its predecessor was Beijing Institute of Geology, which was formed by the merger of Peking University, Tsinghua University, Tianjin University and the Geology Department (branch) of Tangshan Railway Institute during the adjustment of 1952 departments. It is one of the famous "eight academies" in the early days of the People's Republic of China.

Project 985 (English name: Project 985) is an educational plan implemented by China government to build several world-class universities and a number of internationally renowned high-level research universities, including 39 top universities.
Project 985 was officially launched on 1999, and was first implemented in Peking University and Tsinghua.
20 1 1 The Ministry of Education indicated that there would be no new universities in the 985 project, and the 985 engineering universities were officially included in the construction plan of 20 19 1 "double first-class universities and disciplines".
