There are two universities in Changsha. Changsha University is an ordinary undergraduate institution of higher learning approved by the Ministry of Education and established on the basis of the former Changsha University (junior college). It is an application-oriented undergraduate planning institution in the "Thirteenth Five-Year Plan" national integration development project.

Changsha University, located in Changsha City, Hunan Province, is a "double first-class" high-level application-oriented university with characteristics in Hunan Province.
