Around 20 15 12 18 in the morning 10, an explosion and fire accident occurred in a laboratory on the second floor of Hetian Building, Department of Chemistry, Tsinghua University, and the postdoctoral fellow named Meng who was doing experiments died on the spot.

After the accident, the teachers and students in and around the building were evacuated and the open fire was quickly extinguished. Haidian District Environmental Protection Bureau found no harmful gas during on-site inspection two hours after the explosion.
