Therefore, it is the unshirkable responsibility of college students to perform military service obligations in accordance with the law, receive military training during school, and learn and master basic military theoretical knowledge and skills. Historical experience tells us that "the country is undefended, and the people can't live", so it is necessary to strengthen the national defense education of the whole people and enhance the national defense concept. In the early 1990s, with the disintegration of the Soviet Union, the cold war situation in which the Soviet Union and the United States competed for hegemony in the world ended. However, we should be soberly aware that hegemonism and power politics still exist, local wars and regional wars continue, and the world is not at peace. The United States-led NATO changed from a defensive organization to an offensive military organization, and intervened in countries that did not listen to it without joint authorization, posing a major threat to world peace. Military courses are an important part of higher education. In recent years, we have made some attempts to do a good job in military training teaching for college students, and achieved certain results, which also triggered a lot of thinking from practice. First, we should re-examine the great strategic significance of doing a good job in military training teaching for college students from the height of the new people's war. Although modern war is a high-tech war, the fundamental factor that determines the outcome of the war is people, who are armed with high technology. Looking at the Gulf War and the Iraq War, it is not so much that the US military defeated its opponents with cutting-edge weapons and equipment, but rather that the US military defeated its opponents with cutting-edge talents with absolute superiority. It is a soldier armed with modern knowledge and advanced ideas, a soldier with high IQ hiding behind high-tech weapons, and defeated a soldier with sacrifice spirit but no scientific and technological quality. College students in China have always had a glorious tradition of patriotism. Whenever the country needs it, college students will stand at the forefront of the times, stand forward and defend the peace and security of the country with their youthful blood. Contemporary college students have strong patriotic enthusiasm and ambition to serve the country, which contains huge talent resources. At ordinary times, we should do a good job in military training and education of college students, further strengthen their ideological quality of dedication to the country and improve their ability to operate high-tech equipment. In case of war, when the country needs it, they are extremely considerable strategic reserve talents, which can ensure that we can defeat any of the most powerful opponents. Even in peacetime, we should fully tap and make good use of college students as a treasure house of talents, so that they can master the necessary military skills on campus, and they can directly recruit officers or noncommissioned officers after graduation. This can reduce the training cost of soldiers, promote the improvement of the overall quality of military groups, accelerate the pace of information construction of our army, improve their ability to win high-tech wars, and provide sustained and powerful talent support. Second, from the perspective of ensuring the positive, healthy and all-round development of contemporary college students, we should fully understand the practical necessity of doing a good job in military teaching for college students. Contemporary college students not only have obvious characteristics such as high cultural level, sharp thinking, strong sense of pioneering and innovation, strong demand for democratic and equal participation, but also have their own shortcomings such as shallow life experience, little practical experience and insufficient spirit of hardship. Many students also hope that while learning theoretical knowledge, they can exercise their perseverance, enhance their physique and learn how to be a man. Carrying out military training teaching for college students and introducing some militarized work, study and life patterns can effectively solve the shortage of military training talents in colleges and universities and promote the overall improvement of college students' comprehensive quality. After four years of military training on campus, their comprehensive quality has been greatly improved. Third, we should try our best to fully tap the inner enthusiasm of college students. To do a good job in military training teaching for college students, only the enthusiasm of schools and troops is not enough. The key is to arouse students' enthusiasm, develop students' intrinsic motivation and give full play to their intelligence. First of all, the focus of military training teaching should be on cultivating students to become talents. Give students more education in this field, make them realize the practical significance of carrying out military training teaching for their healthy growth, the important role of broadening their knowledge, the long-term positive impact on their future lives, and constantly enhance their sense of participation and responsibility. In the design of activities, students should be involved, the goal should be moderate, and students should be able to jump and jump, and the method should be proper, which not only strictly trains, but also embodies the people-oriented requirements. In order to make college students understand military knowledge, understand the laws of war and predict the characteristics of future wars, under the premise of implementing the principle of fewer but better, learning military theory must be regarded as an important content of college students' national defense education.
