The University of National Defense Science and Technology of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, directly under the Central Military Commission, is listed in the First Five-Year Plan of "156 National Key Construction Project", "21Project", "985 Project" and "210 Project". It is one of the 20 key universities identified by the Central Committee 1959, the first institution approved by the State Council to award master's and doctor's degrees, and the first pilot graduate school in China.
