Nanjing University, referred to as "Nanda", is located in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province. It is a national key university directly under the Ministry of Education and the Central Government of People's Republic of China (PRC). Ranked among the national "double first-class", "985 Project" and "2 1 1 Project" key construction universities.
The nine schools' alliance (C9), China University Presidents' Association, Pacific Rim University Alliance and 2/were selected for the Everest Plan, Strong Foundation Plan,11Plan and 201Plan respectively.
The school was founded in 1902 Sanjiang Normal School. Later 1950 was renamed Nanjing University, including Liangjiang Normal University, Nanjing Higher Normal University, National Southeast University and National Central University. 1952, after adjusting some departments, it merged with the College of Arts and Sciences of Jinling University founded by 1888 and was still named Nanjing University.
The school site was moved from Sipailou to the original site of Jinling University in Gulou.
