Bethune Medical University is Norman Bethune Medical College of Jilin University. Its predecessor was Norman Bethune Health School of Shanxi-Chahar-Hebei Military Region and the 18th Military Health School founded in 1939. 1948 Co-edited with Medical College of North University to become North China Medical University. In 2000, it merged with Jilin University, Jilin University of Technology, changchun university of science and technology and Changchun University of Posts and Telecommunications to form a new Jilin University.
