Up to now, there are 8 universities in Cangzhou, including Hebei Institute of Water Conservancy and Electric Power, Cangzhou Normal University, Cangzhou Jiaotong University, Cangzhou Vocational and Technical College, Bohai Petroleum Vocational College, Cangzhou Medical College, Cangzhou Kindergarten Teachers College and Bohai Polytechnic Vocational College.

Cangzhou Teachers College, the first ordinary college in Cangzhou originally established by 1958, is a public normal undergraduate college.

Hebei Institute of Water Conservancy and Electric Power, originally located in Tianjin 1952, was renamed Hebei School of Water Conservancy and Civil Engineering, and then moved and upgraded. In 2020, it will become one of the second batch of pilot units for the transformation of applied technology universities in Hebei Province. The school is a public science and engineering college.

Cangzhou Jiaotong University is a private comprehensive full-time undergraduate college, which belongs to the Education Department of Hebei Province.
