In response to media reports that the country quietly cancelled the "985 Project" and "21Project" in colleges and universities, the official Weibo Weibo 13 of the Information Office of the Ministry of Education released a message at night saying that "2 1 1 Project" and "985 Project" had not been cancelled. According to Wei Yan Education, building universities and first-class disciplines is a strategic decision to accelerate the development of higher education in China. The state has successively implemented key projects such as "2 1 1 Project", "985 Project", "Innovation Platform for Dominant Discipline" and "Key Discipline Project with Characteristics", which has effectively promoted the overall level of higher education in China.

Although the Ministry of Education has declared that "2 1 1" and "985" do not exist, according to the trend of educational reform and development, "985" and "2 1 1" projects will be cancelled sooner or later, because these projects and plans are implemented by the administrative department. To this end, the relevant state departments should seriously consider the retention and abolition of the 985, 2 1 1 projects, and further clean up other educational projects and plans.
