What is a normal university?
Teachers' College is a higher normal school that trains primary and secondary school teachers. Generally, it can be divided into two categories: (1) independent setting, subordinate to the national or local government, specializing in training teachers; (2) Located in a comprehensive university, it provides education courses and vocational training for students from other departments, and can also recruit undergraduates and graduate students by itself. Before World War II, the first category ruled all countries. After the war, since the 1960s, independent normal colleges in some developed countries have been merged into comprehensive universities. Since 1938, China has been established as a national university.

After the founding of People's Republic of China (PRC), it was founded independently. Most of them are ordinary normal colleges that train arts and sciences teachers in local ordinary middle schools. There are also a few colleges and specialized normal colleges in sports, arts, foreign languages, nationalities, vocational technology, railways, adult education and so on. In terms of enrollment scale, years of study and student treatment, it is basically the same as ordinary normal colleges, but there are obvious differences in majors and curriculum.
