A new college English teaching system has been formed, which is based on English teaching resource database, led by high-quality teachers who master modern educational technology, driven by various communicative activities and tasks, guaranteed by the evaluation of students' activities and behaviors, and aimed at developing students' comprehensive English ability in an all-round way. In 2005, college English stood out among many competitors and was rated as a national excellent course. Using modern technology to innovate teaching mode, Northeastern University devoted itself to the reform of college English teaching system as early as 1995, mainly starting with hierarchical teaching and hierarchical guidance; Three-dimensional curriculum system; Diversified teaching modes; The wide application of modern educational technology; Exploration and practice of teaching evaluation focusing on process construction. With Professor and Professor Jin as the academic leaders, we have concentrated excellent English teachers in our college to enrich the scientific research strength, and at the same time absorbed professionals from pedagogy, educational technology and computer software to form a strong scientific research team, and established the Language and Network Multimedia Center of Northeastern University, which has now been renamed the College of Language and Modern Educational Technology to build an "ordinary university". We will learn from each other's strengths in our work, cooperate and innovate, promote research through teaching, and promote teaching through research, so that teaching and research complement each other and further explore in practice. With the support of modern educational technology and the application of teaching information integration theory, the members of the course group integrate teaching elements such as teaching content, teaching objectives, teaching subjects (teachers and students), teaching methods, teaching evaluation and teaching environment on the basis of English teaching resource database and teaching process information database, and form a personalized college English teaching system based on the network. In view of all the elements and links in the teaching process, the course group provides information technology support, and uses information technology to carry out all-round reform of the course, that is, the reform of the teaching system, including the reform of teaching content, teaching philosophy, teaching objectives, teaching methods, teaching environment and teaching mode, so as to obviously improve teaching efficiency, shorten teaching time, increase students' opportunities to actively learn and participate in English communication activities, and improve teaching quality. The College English Curriculum Group has developed, compiled and published the three-dimensional textbook General College English, a series of specialized English textbooks, electronic lesson plans and online courses. It took the lead in the reform of college English teaching based on network multimedia in China and formed a new college English teaching system. Due to the early start of the reform of college English teaching by using modern educational technology and fruitful results, our school has become a demonstration base of network multimedia English teaching in Liaoning Province and Shenyang City. Since 1998, we have held many seminars on network multimedia teaching of college English in our school. After 1998, general college English has been used by more than 200 students in Northeastern University every year. Due to the limitation of multimedia teaching conditions in the first few years, electronic teaching materials have not been widely promoted. But its teaching effect is remarkable, which is nearly 20 percentage points higher than that of traditional teaching. Since 200 1, the series of electronic textbooks "General College English" has been fully used by more than 8,000 students in the online education college of Northeastern University. The teaching practice in the past five years shows that this set of teaching materials has significantly improved the teaching efficiency and quality compared with traditional teaching materials. At present, our school is equipped with eight traditional language laboratories, dozens of multimedia classrooms, microcomputer rooms and multi-functional classrooms that can carry out network multimedia college English teaching, which can meet the routine experimental teaching of college English network multimedia. However, English practical teaching is mainly reflected in the development of English communicative activities and the application of teaching evaluation methods. To this end, the college has also established a virtual English learning center based on the network-"English learning and training center", thus creating conditions for English practice teaching and exchange activities. The establishment of the whole-course network multimedia teaching system of college English in Foreign Languages Institute provides perfect teaching conditions for the implementation of open, universal and efficient English teaching activities and processes. Summing up successful experience and promoting discipline construction After 10 years of courseware development, teaching practice and theoretical exploration, the network multimedia teaching of college English curriculum group has achieved fruitful results in all aspects. In terms of teaching content, a large-scale English teaching resource database has been initially established, including thesaurus, sentence database, texts and their explanations, situational dialogues, famous sayings and aphorisms, question bank, grammar knowledge base, corpus, campus English, cultural background knowledge, games, poems, songs, movies, bilingual teaching content of other courses, language exchange framework, celebrities and famous artists, etc. Theoretically, an English teaching system with unified teaching resources and knowledge base as the core is formed, and teachers and students can efficiently complete the teaching process in an interactive and collaborative teaching environment under the network multimedia environment, so as to realize the integration and optimization of teaching objectives, teaching contents, teaching methods, teaching environment and teaching evaluation. In terms of technology and products, we have developed products and tools such as textbooks, CDs, online courses, electronic teaching plans, online teaching platforms, question banks and English teaching evaluation systems. In English teaching practice, a new college English teaching model has been formed, which is based on English teaching resource database, driven by various communicative activities and tasks, guaranteed by the evaluation of students' activities and behaviors, and aimed at developing students' comprehensive English ability in an all-round way. In terms of evaluation, an evaluation system combining formative evaluation and summative examination evaluation based on electronic files has been formed, which focuses on the evaluation of learning process and academic performance, as well as the evaluation of students' comprehensive English application ability. On June 5438+February 65438+May 2004, Liaoning Provincial Department of Education organized experts to appraise the achievements of the course "Construction and Practice of College English Teaching System Based on Resource Bank and Network Support Platform". Its English resource base, software platform and new teaching mode are advanced in theory and technology, with remarkable application effect and strong operability, which has wide popularization and application value. This achievement represents the current trend and direction of college English teaching reform, and well embodies the spirit of College English Curriculum Requirements recently promulgated by the Ministry of Education. It is systematic, advanced, exemplary and innovative, that is, new system, new model and new content. In 2004, as one of the first batch of 180 pilot schools in college English teaching reform of the Ministry of Education, it made outstanding achievements in the new college English teaching system and textbook construction. In 2005, it entered the ranks of the second batch of 60 pilot schools in China. In February, 2006, it passed the defense of the third batch of experimental schools of foreign language teaching reform in colleges and universities by the Ministry of Education, and the experts responded well, basically entering the ranks of 30 colleges and universities in China. The College takes the discipline construction of college English as the leader, adjusts the discipline layout from point to area, makes it move towards a more reasonable and higher-level construction goal, and comprehensively promotes the discipline construction of the College. In 2005, he successfully applied for a first-class master's degree in foreign languages and literature. Together with the original three master majors of foreign linguistics and applied linguistics, English language and literature, and Japanese language and literature, there are now four master majors. In addition, with the support of the school's new major construction funds, the college has focused on building Japanese majors and Russian majors. According to the needs of the country and society for all kinds of foreign language talents, the college will further broaden the scope of majors, add German majors on the basis of existing majors, and train German talents. Among them, the master of interpretation will be an important subject direction for the School of Foreign Languages to create characteristics and establish a brand. At the same time, as a research direction of doctoral degree in philosophy of science and technology: science and technology and culture (STC), it is planned to jointly train doctoral students by strengthening interdisciplinary integration. The success of college English teaching reform has made the leaders of foreign languages college fully realize that the attention of school leaders is the premise of college development; The unity and cooperation of excellent teachers is the guarantee of discipline construction. Therefore, while promoting the discipline construction in an all-round way, the Foreign Languages Institute began to focus on strengthening the construction of teachers. Over the past few years, the college has continuously increased the training of teachers, sent young teachers to study for degrees in foreign universities such as the United States, Britain, Australia and the Netherlands, and conducted in-service degree studies in schools such as Peking University, Fudan University, Jilin University and Northeast Normal University in China.
