How to evaluate the training mode of the Social Thought Committee of the University of Chicago?
There is no special difference between the doctors of the Social Thought Committee and those of other humanities departments of the University of Chicago, except for two points: First, there is more money (but the enrollment is less than five a year, so the competition is fierce). Second, there will be more homework requirements (the requirement of three high-quality papers every two years and more difficult graduation requirements make this department really famous). For a student, the teacher of the Social Thought Committee is really strong. But more importantly, as an honorary project, the existence of scholarships gives students better opportunities in their careers. It's not bragging or being black. The recent employment situation of graduates of the Social and Ideological Committee is not good, and the teaching staff is weak. In fact, interdisciplinary research has not opened a big gap with other doctoral programs. Generally speaking, this department is suitable for undergraduates (mainly from North American College of Arts and Sciences) who have been able to conduct academic research and have passed the second or third foreign language level.
