East China Normal University is a comprehensive research university sponsored by the state, headed by the Ministry of Education, and jointly established by the Ministry of Education and the Shanghai Municipal People's Government. 1996 was included in the "2 1 1 project" national key construction university. In 2006, the Ministry of Education and Shanghai decided to focus on the construction of East China Normal University, which entered the ranks of national "985 Project" universities.
At present, there are three departments in the school: earth science department, education department and economic management department; 29 full-time colleges and universities.
