She is the first group of female college students in China. She, Lu Yin, Wang Shiying and Chen Dingxiu are also called "quadruplets" in the May 4th Movement. She was appreciated by scholars such as Li Dazhao, Huang Kan and Hu Xiaoshi, and was repeatedly referred to as "a daffodil" by Zheng Zhenduo.
She is the first female professor in China. She has been engaged in education and academic research for more than 70 years and has made outstanding achievements in the fields of classical literature, philology and literary creation. The fragrance of knowledge and character has influenced generations of disciples.
She is Mr. Cheng Junying, a famous expert in the study of The Book of Songs in China.
12 years later, her spirit and grace still touched everyone who knew her. Recently, the "Academic Seminar on Cheng Junying's Life and the Symposium on the Publication of Professor Cheng Junying's Commemorative Anthology" co-sponsored by East China Normal University Press and the Institute of Ancient Books of East China Normal University was held in Shanghai. "A Narcissus" in Four Children
In the summer of 19 17, Cheng Junying, who was only 17 years old, broke through the shackles of feudal family, entered the Chinese major of Beijing Women's Normal School from Fujian (later renamed the Chinese Department of Beijing Women's Normal School), and graduated in the summer of 1922, becoming the first batch of female college students in China. These five years have also become the most important turning point in her life.
During this period, he studied under famous scholars at that time, such as Li Dazhao, Hu Shi, Liu, Zhou Zuoren, Huang Kan, Chen Zhongfan, etc. Deeply influenced by the new ideological trend, he actively participated in the May 4th Movement and was baptized by new ideas and new literature. In the drama Peacock Flying Southeast directed by Li Dazhao, Cheng Junying plays Liu Lanzhi who "feels like countless women murdered by feudal ethics". At the same time, academically, Cheng Junying received strict training and laid a solid foundation in the creation of classical literature, especially pre-Qin literature and classical poetry, which was appreciated by scholars such as Li Dazhao, Huang Kan and Hu Xiaoshi.
Here, she also met her classmates Lu Yin, Wang Shiying and Chen Dingxiu, who are also called "quadruplets". They shared the same interests, pursued each other academically, kept pace with each other in life, participated in various organizations and edited publications, bravely took to the streets in the May 4th Movement, marched and assembled for women's liberation, independence and freedom, and created a precedent for women's participation in politics in China. At that time, their classmate and writer Su Mei (played by Lin Xue) once had a gifted scholar who wrote Zi Angpian. His eyes are beautifully painted and his face is beautiful, round like pearls and clear like hibiscus (Chen Dingxiu). Asian chivalrous men are less energetic and more masculine, and they want to copy the sky with great blades. Night rain, spring thunder, new bamboo shoots, frosty days, autumn and Huai wavelength wind (Lu Yin). Hengqu is quiet in Yichuan (Cheng Junying), Huian is quiet in Yangming Bridge (Wang Shiying), and Fujian and Hunan gather together. The poem describes the beauty show, the protagonist Lu Yin, the beauty of the world and the lack of comeliness in Four Children. 1923, Lu Yin wrote a novel "Old Friends by the Sea" based on the life of "four children". Lusa, Yun Qing, Yu Ling and Zong Ying in the novel refer to Lu Yin himself, Wang Shiying, Chen Dingxiu and Mr. Cheng Junying respectively. These days are "the happiest and saddest days in Cheng Junying's life, which is worth remembering". 68 years later, in the summer of 1990, Cheng Junying, who was over 90 years old, recalled the unkindness of Lu Yin, Wang Shiying and Chen Dingxiu and their early deaths. He wrote the sequel to Old Friends by the Sea for half a year in the apartment of East China Normal University. Now, although the story of "quadruplets" has passed, their spirit of pursuing women's liberation, freedom and independence has been passed down forever.
When he was young, Cheng Junying was fresh and refined, and actively strived for freedom and independence. 19 19 Mr. Zheng Zhenduo, a writer who met and became brothers with Cheng Junying, praised him many times as "a daffodil".
"Mother strict father" by the Riva River
In the 1980s, there was a famous scenery along the Riva River on the campus of East China Normal University: Mr. Cheng Junying, who was disabled in his legs and feet, sat behind a bicycle and was pushed by students, and walked from his apartment to the Ancient Books Institute or the Literature and History Building of East China Normal University to give lessons to students.
Many years later, this scene is still deeply imprinted in the mind of Cheng Junying's disciples. However, there is more than that left in the hearts of her disciples. From the 1920s to the 1990s, Cheng Junying taught for more than 70 years, and truly realized her oath: devote her life to education. For students, she asked strict father to care more than a loving mother. As the first generation of female professors in China, Cheng Junying is knowledgeable and versatile, and has taught more than ten courses in her life. In every course, she prepares lessons carefully, with detailed information and simple lectures. Many students she supervised later became first-class scholars. In life, she cares more about students and young teachers. Although he is not rich economically, he continues to give financial assistance to the poor. While working in East China Normal University, she also initiated an action with others: all articles published in newspapers and periodicals were used to help teachers with financial difficulties.
Zhu, a disciple of Zhu, recalled that in the mid-1980s, my wife was hospitalized with cancer and her life was in trouble. At that time, my bike was stolen, which was a great blow to me at that time, because I rode this bike to and from home, hospital and school every day, and I didn't have the money to buy another one. One day, my brother Jiang Jianyuan found me, stuffed me with an envelope and said, "Here's a hundred yuan for your car from Mr. Cheng. She was afraid to give it to you, but you refused to accept it. She specifically asked me to hand it over. " I don't know what to say, I can only hold back my tears. ...
In academic research, Cheng Junying is even more fruitful. She is good at studying classical literature, especially pre-Qin literature, and has unique views on The Book of Songs. After the downfall of the Gang of Four, she returned to Japan and successively completed millions of books, such as Reading Notes on the Translation of the Book of Songs, Random Talks on the Book of Songs and Selected Translations of the Book of Songs, which were highly praised by academic circles at home and abroad. In addition, she edited Appreciation of the Book of Songs and China Dictionary of Literature of Pre-Qin and Han Dynasties, and collated and annotated Confucian classics in Qing Dynasty, such as The Analects of Justice and Poems of Shi Mao.
1On February 20th, 993, Cheng Junying passed away at the age of 93. In her mourning hall, people can express their infinite admiration for her with a pair of elegies written by her master: 90 years old, full of string songs, talented and knowledgeable, full of longing for life, and once the sky was heavy and precious; 300 poems have developed into writings, benefiting Qilu and Han Mao, pushing wine festivals in groups, disappearing like the sunset, and making great achievements in the Millennium as famous mountains.
