What are the ways to deal with college students' violation of discipline?
The regulations of various schools are not uniform. Here is a copy of the Regulations on the Punishment of Students in Huazhong University of Science and Technology for your reference:

Article 1 In order to build a good school spirit, create a civilized campus environment, maintain the normal teaching and living order of the school, promote students' moral, intellectual, physical and aesthetic development, and ensure the cultivation of qualified talents, these regulations are formulated in accordance with the Regulations on the Administration of Students in Colleges and Universities and in combination with the actual situation of our school.

Article 2 Schools shall, according to the seriousness of the case, give criticism, education or disciplinary action to students who violate school discipline. There are five kinds of punishment:

(1) warning; (2) serious warning; (3) recording a demerit; (4) Stay in school for observation; (5) expulsion from school.

Article 3 The probation period is generally one year, which shall be determined by the fresh graduates according to the situation. Students who are subject to probation will be released from probation on schedule if they have no violations of discipline and discipline during probation; If there is significant progress, the inspection will be lifted in advance; Those who do not change after education will be expelled from school.

Article 4 Anyone who is sentenced to public surveillance, criminal detention, fixed-term imprisonment or sent to a reeducation-through-labor or juvenile reformatory shall be expelled from school. Those who are sentenced to criminal detention or suspended imprisonment for negligent crimes shall be given suspended sentences or expelled from school.

Article 5 Whoever violates the Constitution and opposes the Four Cardinal Principles, organizes and incites disturbances, disturbs social order and undermines stability and unity shall be given the following sanctions according to different situations:

(a) after education can still be corrected, given a serious warning, demerit or probation.

(2) Those who persist in education or cause serious consequences will be expelled from school.

Article 6 Whoever causes accidents, hits people, affrays, commits perjury, possesses weapons or provides weapons shall be given the following sanctions respectively:

(1) The perpetrator:

Those who don't obey the order, don't listen to dissuasion, touch others by verbal insults or other means, stir up trouble or intensify contradictions, resulting in beatings, group fights and other consequences, will be given a warning or severe warning.

(2) Batters:

1. If hitting people does not hurt people, give them a warning or a serious warning.

2. Those who cause minor injuries to others shall be given a demerit or probation.

3. Those who cause minor injuries to others will be given probation and expulsion from school.

4. Seek revenge on the hitter:

(1) If no harm is caused to others, a demerit shall be given.

(two) caused minor injuries to others, given probation.

(3) Those who cause minor injuries to others will be expelled from school.

5. Whoever hits people with a weapon shall be given a heavier punishment in accordance with the items listed in this paragraph.

(3) ringleaders or planners who gather people to fight or affray;

1. If it has not caused consequences, it shall be given a warning or a serious warning.

2. If the consequences are caused, a demerit or probation shall be given.

Those who cause serious consequences will be expelled from school.

(four) to participate in beating or affray:

1. Give a warning to those who do not start work, but intensify contradictions or expand the situation.

2. Anyone who hits a person shall be given a heavier punishment according to the corresponding item in the second paragraph of this article.

(five) favoritism, perjury or private dispute resolution:

1. In the name of "stop fighting", anyone who takes sides and causes the situation to expand and cause consequences will be given a warning or severe warning.

3. Those who intentionally commit perjury and obstruct the investigation shall be given a serious warning or demerit.

4. Those who did not participate but knew about the beating or group beating, did not report to the school organization, and found the relevant parties to settle the case without authorization, were given a serious warning.

(6) Those who provide weapons for fighting:

1. If it has not caused consequences, it shall be given a warning or a serious warning.

2. If the consequences are caused, severe warning, demerit recording or probation shall be given.

Those who cause serious consequences will be expelled from school.

(seven) possession, carrying knives controlled by the public security department, given a serious warning; If it causes consequences, it shall be punished in accordance with the second paragraph of this article.

(eight) in any of the following circumstances, it is deemed to be slightly injured or above:

1. It is identified as minor injury or minor injury by the hospital entrusted by the forensic doctor or the public security department.

2. The degree of injury is not enough for forensic identification or forensic identification is less than minor injuries, but it belongs to one of the following injuries:

(1) The cumulative length of head, neck and facial wounds is more than 3 cm and the depth is more than 1 cm.

(2) The visual acuity decreased 1.0 or more, which could not be recovered in a short time.

(3) Severe comminuted fracture of limbs.

(4) Being in a coma for more than 24 hours after being rescued by the hospital.

(5) Other seriously injured persons.

(9) Those who make more than two mistakes listed in the preceding paragraph shall be given one or two punishments according to the heavier one of the corresponding punishments (up to expulsion from school).

(ten) insult, assault teachers, in accordance with the second paragraph of this article shall be given a heavier punishment plus one or two penalties (the highest is expulsion).

(eleven) guilty of the mistakes listed in this article, and punished by the public security and judicial organs. Punish in accordance with the highest punishment level listed in Article 4 and the relevant provisions of this Article.

(13) Those who do not hit others but endanger others' health in other ways will be given a warning and above punishment according to the consequences.

Article 7 Whoever intimidates or extorts other people's property shall be given the following penalties respectively:

(a) if the circumstances are minor, give a serious warning and above.

(2) Those who plan or take the lead in extortion and those who threaten others with weapons in the process of intimidation or extortion will be severely punished.

(3) In the course of extortion by gangs, the first-degree punishment is aggravated.

(four) if the circumstances of extortion are serious, the punishment of expulsion from school shall be given and sent to the public security organ for handling.

Eighth theft, fraud, state, collective or private property, were given the following sanctions:

(a) the amount of crime is below 400 yuan, given a serious warning or demerit.

(two) the criminal value in 400 yuan and above, 1000 yuan, given a suspended sentence.

(three) the criminal value in 1000 yuan and above, be expelled from school.

(4) If a gang commits a crime, the crime value of the ringleaders shall be calculated according to the total crime value, and the punishments listed in items (1), (2) and (3) of this article shall be given heavier punishment. Other participants should be given a lighter punishment according to the ringleaders.

(five) although not stealing property, but confirmed by the public security or public security departments, given a warning, serious warning or demerit.

(6) Anyone who steals three or more times or commits a crime with bad means will be expelled from school regardless of the criminal value.

(7) Whoever knowingly fails to report, provide information or steal tools, or covers up, shall be given a warning, a serious warning or a demerit.

(eight) those who participate in the distribution of stolen goods shall be dealt with according to paragraphs (1), (2), (3) and (4) of this article.

(nine) lent, forged documents, certificates or identity fraud or deliberately provide false information:

1. Those who fail will be given warning or severe warning.

2. If losses are caused, severe warning, demerit recording or probation shall be given.

3. Those who carve the official seal without permission will be expelled from school and sent to the public security organ for handling.

(10) Whoever commits the mistakes listed in this article and is punished by the public security and judicial organs shall be given a heavier punishment as listed in Article 4 and punished according to the relevant funds in this article.

(eleven) by means of theft, fraud, arbitrage and other means to the state, collective or private property losses, according to the first, second, third and fourth items of this article, and shall be ordered to compensate for the losses.

(12) Anyone who conceals, destroys or opens other people's letters without permission and impersonates other people's articles will be given a warning and the above punishment according to the seriousness of the case.

Article 9 Gamblers, alcoholics and drug addicts shall be given the following sanctions respectively:

(1) gambler:

1. If the circumstances are minor, a serious warning or demerit will be given.

2. If the circumstances are serious, probation or dismissal shall be given.

3 did not participate in gambling but provide gambling conditions for others, given a warning or severe warning.

(2) Alcoholics:

1. Those who drink alcohol in the dormitory during self-study and study hours, or drink alcohol inside and outside the dormitory, guess boxing orders, make a loud noise and refuse to listen to dissuasion will be given a warning.

2. Those who disturb others or public order after drinking will be given a serious warning or demerit.

3. Those who cause serious consequences due to drunkenness and trouble will be given probation or expelled from school.

(3) Those who are punished by the public security and judicial organs for gambling and alcoholism shall be given a heavier punishment according to Article 4 and the relevant funds in this Article.

(4) All drug addicts shall be expelled from school and sent to the public security and judicial organs for handling.

Tenth intentional damage to public property or other people's property, shall be ordered to compensate for the losses, and were given the following penalties:

(a) the damage value is below 400 yuan, give a warning.

(two) the damage value in 400 yuan and above, given a serious warning or demerit.

(3) If the damage value is more than 1000 yuan, probation shall be given.

(4) If the consequences are particularly serious, the student shall be expelled from school.

Eleventh serious illegal use of electricity, education reform, were given the following sanctions.

(a) in violation of the provisions of the school electricity management, criticism and education do not change, given a warning or severe warning.

(two) due to the serious consequences of illegal use of electricity, given a demerit or gross demerit.

Article 12 Whoever burns books, clothes and other combustible materials in public places such as dormitories, classrooms and libraries shall be given a warning or a serious warning, and if serious consequences are caused, he shall be given a demerit and compensate for the losses.

Thirteenth any of the following misconduct, depending on the seriousness of the case, give corresponding punishment:

(1) Those who scribble dirty words or sketch dirty images in public places will be given a serious warning or demerit.

(3) Those who stay in opposite sex dormitory or opposite sex dormitory will be given probation or expelled from school.

(5) Whoever commits any of the acts listed in this article and is punished by the public security and judicial organs or the state law and discipline shall be given a heavier punishment according to the provisions listed in Article 4 and the relevant funds in this article.

Article 14 Those who are absent from school for a certain period of time (one day of absence, calculated according to the actual teaching time) will be given the following sanctions respectively:

(a) 10- 19 class, give a warning.

(two) 20-29 hours, given a serious warning.

(three) 30-39 hours, given a demerit.

(four) 40-49 hours, given suspended punishment.

(five) more than 50 hours (including 50 hours), be expelled from school.

Fifteenth whoever participates in various national and school examinations, violates the discipline of the examination room and cheats in the examination (assessment), shall be given the following corresponding sanctions:

(1) Anyone who peeks at other people's papers or carries materials related to the exam with him will be given a serious warning.

(2) In the case that others are unprepared, those who take other people's test papers or draft papers and other materials related to the examination will be given a demerit.

(3) Those who plagiarize or provide materials for others shall be given probation.

(4) Those who take exams instead of others, take exams for others, organize cheating, cheat with communication tools and other serious cheating behaviors shall be expelled from school.

(five) there are other acts in violation of the discipline of the examination room, which are proved by the principal and the invigilator, and given a warning and above punishment according to the seriousness of the case.

(six) do not obey the invigilator and invigilator's command, seriously disrupting the order of the examination room, be given probation.

Sixteenth plagiarism, plagiarism and other academic fraud, depending on the seriousness of the case, were given corresponding punishment.

(1) Violating academic ethics, practicing fraud (such as falsifying data and operating rules) or plagiarizing other people's academic views and ideas, and if the circumstances are minor, giving a demerit or observing; If the circumstances are serious, you will be expelled from school.

(2) Those who cite other people's research achievements in their dissertations or academic papers without indicating the source, if the circumstances are minor, shall be given demerit or probation; If the circumstances are serious, you will be expelled from school.

(3) Those who ask others to write or buy papers as their own dissertations or academic papers will be expelled from school once they are found out.

(four) there are other forms of academic fraud, depending on the seriousness of the case, given a demerit and above.

Article 17 Whoever disturbs public order and affects public health shall be given a warning and ordered to compensate for the losses.

Eighteenth campus dormitories that have been arranged for accommodation are rented out to residents without the consent of the school, and a warning is given; Those who refuse to move back to the student dormitory after education, or who fight, gamble or steal during the off-campus accommodation, shall be given a heavier punishment according to the corresponding provisions of these regulations.

Article 19 Anyone who watches or disseminates obscene books, videos or pictures shall be given a warning and expelled from school according to the circumstances, and handed over to the public security organ for handling if necessary.

Article 20 Whoever insults or harasses others shall be given a warning and above punishment according to the seriousness of the case, and shall be given a serious warning and above punishment if serious consequences such as reputation loss and psychological problems of others are caused, and shall bear corresponding legal responsibilities.

Article 21 Whoever introduces or participates in escort activities, engages in prostitution or whoring, or introduces or shelters prostitution or whoring, shall be expelled from school.

Twenty-second violation of the classroom, library and other public places management system, hinder the normal work of school staff, refused to accept the management of managers, given a warning or serious warning.

Twenty-third in violation of the provisions of computer network management, one of the following acts, respectively, to give corresponding punishment.

(a) using the Internet to engage in activities that endanger national security and reveal state secrets, which do not constitute a crime, shall be given a demerit or above.

(2) Making, copying, consulting and disseminating words, pictures, audio, videos, websites, etc. containing feudal superstition, obscenity, pornography, gambling, violence, murder, terror, abetting crimes, etc., which do not constitute a crime, shall be given the above punishment.

(3) Those who use the Internet to invade others' privacy, insult others, fabricate or distort facts, and spread rumors, which do not constitute a crime, shall be given warnings and above punishments respectively according to the consequences.

(four) without the approval of the relevant departments, the establishment of fixed and open network servers and provide any form of network services, given a serious warning or demerit.

(five) making, deliberately spreading destructive programs such as computer viruses, or engaging in other activities that endanger the security of computer information networks, which do not constitute a crime, shall be given a serious warning and above sanctions.

(six) there are malicious downloads, transfer accounts and other improper use of school electronic resources, depending on the consequences were given a warning and above.

(seven) those who commit the acts listed in this article and are punished by the public security and judicial organs shall be given a heavier punishment according to the fourth item of this article and the relevant funds.

Twenty-fourth violations not listed in these regulations, but really need to be punished, can be punished with reference to the similar funds in Articles 4 to 19 of these regulations, or according to the relevant provisions formulated by the school.

Twenty-fifth violations of these regulations involving more than two, according to the relevant provisions of the highest level of punishment.

Twenty-sixth any of the following circumstances, according to the relevant provisions of the heavier or heavier punishment listed:

(1) Those who have been punished once in school.

(2) taking revenge on prosecutors and witnesses.

Twenty-seventh any of the following circumstances, can be given a lighter or mitigated punishment:

(3) those who can try their best to remedy and recover losses after violating discipline.

Twenty-eighth punished, cancel the following qualifications:

(a) from the date of punishment, shall not enjoy the scholarship within one year; Those who are detained for probation shall not enjoy scholarships during the probation period.

(two) enjoy the scholarship, from the date of punishment, stop issuing scholarships for this academic year.

(three) recommended to study for a master's (or doctoral) degree without examination.

Twenty-ninth give students disciplinary procedures and management authority:

(a) to give students disciplinary action:

1. If students are given probation and the following punishments, the school and department shall submit a report, which shall be audited by the relevant departments of the school and reported to the leaders of the competent school for approval.

2. Give students the punishment of expulsion from school, and submit a report by the institute and department, which will be audited by relevant departments and approved by the dean's meeting, and submitted to the Provincial Department of Education for the record.

(two) the following units are responsible for the examination, filing, coordination between colleges (departments) and departments, inspection and supervision of the implementation, drafting, printing, filing and copying of disciplinary decisions:

1. Students listed in Articles 4 to 14 and Article 18 to 24 shall be punished by the Student Affairs Office and the Graduate Management Office respectively.

2. The punishment of students listed in Article 15 and Article 16 shall be investigated and verified by the Academic Affairs Office, the College of Distance and Continuing Education and the Graduate Training Office respectively, and the Student Affairs Office and the Graduate Management Office shall be responsible for the punishment.

(3) Before making a decision on punishment, the school shall inform the students of the facts, reasons and basis for the proposed treatment or punishment, and fully listen to the statements and arguments of the students or their agents.

(four) the punishment documents for students shall be served on the students themselves, and if they cannot be served for some reason, they shall be announced in the school, and shall be deemed to have been served after 7 working days from the date of announcement; For advanced students or students entrusted with training, the punishment decision should be copied to the original work unit or the entrusted unit.

(five) students' disciplinary materials should be truly and completely classified into school documents and students' personal files.

Thirtieth punished students' rights appeal channels:

(a) the contents of the disciplinary decision made by the school must have facts, reasons and treatment basis, and inform the students of the right and time limit for filing a complaint.

(2) The school student complaint handling committee accepts students' complaints about punishment, which is composed of school principals, principals of relevant functional departments, teachers and student representatives.

(3) If a student disagrees with the school's disciplinary decision, he may submit a written complaint to the student complaint handling committee within 5 working days from the date of receiving the disciplinary decision.

(four) the student complaint handling committee shall examine the complaints made by the students, and make a conclusion within 05 working days from the date of receiving the written complaint and inform the complainant. Need to change the original punishment decision, by the student complaint handling committee submitted to the school to re study the decision.

(5) Students who have objections to the review decision may submit a written complaint to the Hubei Provincial Department of Education within 15 working days from the date of receiving the review decision.

(six) since the date of the decision, the school will no longer accept the appeal if the student fails to file a complaint within the appeal period.

Article 31 These Provisions shall apply to all kinds of full-time students studying in our school, and other students shall refer to them. If there are other provisions that are contrary to these provisions, these provisions shall prevail.

Article 32 The Student Affairs Office and the Graduate Management Office shall be responsible for the interpretation of these Provisions.

Article 33 These Regulations shall come into force on September 1 2005, and the Regulations on the Punishment of Students of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, which came into force on September 1 2006, shall be abolished at the same time.
