Ningxia Institute of Technology covers a total area of more than 5,000 mu (including water area of more than 3,000 mu), with a construction area of 6,543,800+0.8 million square meters.

It is located in Shizuishan City, Ningxia, which is a heavy industry base in northwest China and a lake and river water town. The campus faces the crescent sea in the west, the ecological park in the east, the old course of the Yellow River in the south and the magnificent Helan in the north.

Founded in 1985, the school name is Shizuishan United University in Ningxia; 1993 was renamed as "Ningxia Shizuishan Staff University" with the approval of the former State Education Commission; Approved by the People's Government of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region and approved by the Ministry of Education in 2000, it was renamed as "Ningxia Shizuishan Vocational and Technical College"; In 2005, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, it was upgraded to an ordinary undergraduate college with the name of "Ningxia Institute of Technology".
