Gansu Medical College is located in Pingliang City, Gansu Province, at the east foot of Kongtong Mountain, the first Taoist mountain in Zhong Ling, by the water mirror. It is a full-time medical undergraduate college with a long history and fine tradition.

The school's predecessor was Pingliang District Health in Gansu Province, which was founded in 1958. In 2003, it was upgraded to Pingliang Medical College, and in 20 15, it was upgraded to a medical undergraduate college with the approval of the Ministry of Education.
