Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT) is a national key university directly under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the Central Government of the People's Republic of China. Ranked among the world-class universities, 2 1 1 project, 985 project, selected as "201/plan".
"Everest Plan", "11Plan" and "Excellent Engineer Education and Training Plan" are the main members of the nine major alliances, China University Presidents Association, Excellent University Alliance, Sino-Russian Engineering University Alliance and Sino-Western University Alliance. They have a graduate school and are qualified to let graduate students draw their own lines.
The school was founded in 1920, and was named "Harbin Sino-Russian Industrial School". Its establishment is directly related to China's construction of the Middle East Railway (renamed as "Medium-long Railway" after War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression's victory). The purpose of the school is to train engineering and technical personnel for the Middle East Railway, and the school runs according to the Russian education model.
2 1 1 Project and 985 Project Brief Introduction:

Project 985 1998 was put forward at the conference to celebrate the 0/00th anniversary of the founding of Peking University. "In order to realize modernization, China should have a number of first-class universities with world-class standards." The first phase of the 985 Project was first implemented in Peking University and Tsinghua University.
