China University of Mining and Technology is a national key university directly under the Ministry of Education, a national "2 1 1 Project", "985 Advantage Discipline Innovation Platform Project" and a national "double-class" construction university. It is also a university jointly established by the Ministry of Education, Jiangsu Provincial People's Government and state administration of work safety. As a multi-disciplinary research university with a history of over 100 years and distinctive features, it plays an irreplaceable leading and supporting role in China's coal energy industry and local economic and social development.
1960 and 1978, the school was recognized as a national key university twice, and it was one of the first universities in China with the right to award doctoral and master's degrees. The school has a graduate school. The school is located in Xuzhou, Jiangsu Province, a national historical and cultural city known as the thoroughfare of five provinces. The campus covers an area of 44 13 mu (Wenchang Campus10.555 mu, Nanhu Campus 2858 mu), and the school building area is10.3 million square meters.
