The Finance Department of Xiamen University has a long history. Its predecessor was the Banking Department under the business department of 192 1. At present, the Finance Department has become a national key discipline construction point with five majors as the pillar, doctoral supervisors as the core, young and middle-aged teachers as the backbone, and high-quality teaching and scientific research quality as the guarantee, and has the right to award bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees.

The construction of key disciplines in the Department of Finance covers three levels: undergraduate, master and doctoral students. Undergraduate training has three majors: finance, financial engineering and insurance; The master's degree program includes five majors: finance, international finance, financial engineering, insurance and investment. The doctoral program consists of five majors: finance, financial engineering, insurance, investment and international finance. These three levels cover banking, securities, insurance, investment and international finance. There are 39 teaching and research personnel in this key discipline, including professor 18 (doctoral supervisor 14), associate professor 14 and assistant professor 7, with high professional titles accounting for 82%. Strong faculty and fruitful results. A series of monographs and teaching materials are published every year, and a large number of academic papers are published in important journals at home and abroad. In order to improve the academic level of teachers, create a good academic atmosphere, and connect with the international community as soon as possible, the Finance Department has actively expanded academic exchanges and cooperation with foreign countries, and now has a stable academic exchange relationship at home and abroad. It has established inter-departmental relations with Cornell University, UCLA, Duke University, Washington University, University of Massachusetts, Michigan State University, London School of Economics and Essex University, Dalhousie University and St. Mary's University in Canada, Paris Business School in France, Tokyo University, Central University of Japan and Ritsumeikan University. , and has established inter-departmental cooperation with universities in Britain, Germany, Australia, Singapore, the Philippines, Taiwan Province, Hongkong, Macau and other countries and regions.

At present, the Department of Finance is headed by Professor Zhang Yichun, a doctoral supervisor, and the doctoral supervisor is the core of teaching and research.
