There is no essential difference between Shanghai Open University and National Open University. Shanghai Open University is a new type of institution of higher learning sponsored by the Shanghai Municipal People's Government, approved by the Ministry of Education and managed by the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission. The school, formerly known as Shanghai TV University, was founded in 1960. 1987 is listed as a key institution of higher learning in Shanghai. In 20/0/2, Kloc was renamed as Shanghai Open University with the approval of the Ministry of Education. It is the first school named after "Open University" in China.
The school is supported by modern information technology, with distance open education as the main form, and mainly carries out adult junior college and undergraduate education. By June 2020, our school has set up 54 majors with about 80,000 registered students, which is the school with the largest number of students in Shanghai.
