History of Zhejiang University
Zhejiang University, formerly Qiushi College, was founded in 1897 and is one of the earliest institutions of higher learning for China people. In 1930s and 1940s, a large number of famous scholars gathered in the National Zhejiang University headed by Zhu Kezhen. In mathematics, Bao Cong, Chen and Su are rich; in physics, Hu, Wang and Zhu are rich; in chemistry, Wang Baoren, Wang Fu, Lu Jiaxi and Li Shousheng are rich; in biology, Luo Zongluo, Bei and Tan Jiazhen are rich; in civil engineering, Ling Xi and Wang Guosong are rich; in history and geography, Tan Qixiang and Ren Meizhen are rich. Later, a large number of outstanding scholars and masters appeared among the students. During the Zhu Kezhen period, Zhejiang University was dominated by arts and sciences. 1948, four professors from Zhejiang University were selected, ranking third in the country.

1 938165438+1October1,President Zhu gave a speech on "Wang Yangming and the role model of college students" at the opening ceremony in Yishan, Guangxi. In his speech, he used Wang Yangming's spirit of seeking truth from facts, fearless spirit in times of crisis, spirit of hard struggle, and spirit of loyalty to serve the country to inspire Zhejiang University teachers and students to forge ahead in difficulties, and proposed that the word "seeking truth from facts" should be used as the school motto in order to better inherit and carry forward the fine tradition of "seeking truth from facts" and implement the essence of scholarship.
