Liaoning University of Engineering Science was founded in 1949, formerly known as Fuxin Mining Institute. In the early 1960s, it became the only coal university in Northeast China and one of the two national key universities directly under the former Ministry of Coal Industry. Many general managers or chairmen of seven major coal enterprises in China graduated from this school, which is known as the "Whampoa Military Academy" in the coal industry. The school has been selected by Liaoning Provincial Government and state administration of work safety * * * successively as one of the universities implementing the National College Students' Innovation Experimental Plan, the universities with typical experience in national graduate employment, the universities with excellent engineer education and training plan, the universities receiving overseas students with China government scholarships, and the universities with key infrastructure projects in central and western universities.
