Harbin Engineering University is one of the "seven national defense schools" directly under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. Characterized by "three seas and one core" (shipbuilding industry, naval equipment, deep-sea engineering and nuclear power), it was awarded the "Outstanding Contribution Award for Aircraft Carrier Construction" by the state.
