Haiyuan College of Kunming Medical University has no junior college. The school has two departments (humanities and social sciences department and basic education department) and nine departments, offering 18 undergraduate majors and professional directions.

Haiyuan College of Kunming Medical University is a joint venture between Kunming Medical University and Kunming Fidelity Development Industry Group. In June, 20001,it was approved by Yunnan Provincial Education Department, and passed the first batch of examination and approval by the Ministry of Education in 2004. It is the only independent college in Yunnan Province for medical undergraduates.

The school has two campuses: Yanglin Campus of Yunnan Songming Vocational Education Base and Gaoxin Campus of Kunming High-tech Development Zone. Yanglin Campus is the main campus, with a school land of 698.2 mu, a construction area of more than 300,000 square meters and a total teaching equipment value of nearly 40 million yuan.
