From 65438 to 0952, the Ministry of Education began a large-scale adjustment of departments and colleges in accordance with the policy of "focusing on cultivating industrial construction and teachers, developing specialized colleges, and rectifying and strengthening comprehensive universities". In Jiangxi, from 65438 to 0952, the Agricultural College of Nanchang University was separated for the first time, and Jiangxi Agricultural College was established independently, merged into Nanchang Agricultural College and Jiangxi Veterinary College, and moved to Li Antang, Nanchang County. In the same year, the Department of Mining and Metallurgy Engineering, the Department of Agricultural Engineering and the Department of Water Conservancy Engineering of Nanchang University were merged into Central South Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (now Central South University), Huazhong Agricultural College (now Huazhong Agricultural University) and Wuhan Institute of Water Conservancy and Electric Power (now Wuhan University) respectively.
At the end of 1952, the Ministry of Education of Central and South China held a meeting in Wuhan to adjust the departments of colleges and universities in the whole region. Nanchang University was led by Wei Dongming, Party Secretary and Secretary-General, accompanied by Wang Xiucai, Vice President of Technical College, Dai, General Affairs Director, Gu Jiguang, Deputy Academic Dean, Ouyang Kan, Director of Accounting Department, etc. The meeting was presided over by Xu Maoyong, Vice Minister of Central South Education, and Zhao Yimin, Minister of Propaganda Department of Central South Bureau, made a political report, focusing on the general line during the transition period. Then it discusses the adjustment plan of departments and colleges, and puts forward to cancel the names of the three major schools in Hunan, Guangxi and Nanchang and establish independent normal colleges in Hunan, Guangxi and Jiangxi provinces.
After this meeting, Nanchang University entered a tense stage of department adjustment, and established the Nanchang Branch of the Department Adjustment Committee of Central South University, with members such as Lu Liang, Liu Gancai and Wei Dongming 14. According to the adjustment plan, department of mechanical engineering of the School of Engineering of Nanchang University and the Department of Electrical Engineering merged into the newly established Huazhong University of Science and Technology (now Huazhong University of Science and Technology); The Department of Civil Engineering was merged into the newly established Central South Institute of Civil Engineering and Architecture (now Hunan University); Department of Chemical Engineering merged into South China University of Technology (now South China University of Technology); Department of Physics, Department of Chemistry, Department of Literature and History and Russian were merged into Wuhan University; Department of Mathematics and Department of Biology merged into Sun Yat-sen University; The Department of Economics merged into the newly established Zhongnan University of Finance and Economics (now Zhongnan University of Economics and Law); The Department of Education and the Department of Educational Biology of the Ministry of Teachers merged into Hunan Normal University (now Hunan Normal University); The historical geography group was merged into South China Normal University (now South China Normal University). At the same time, the Central South Institute of Physical Education was established on the basis of the Physical Education Department of the College and the Physical Education Department of the Normal University, and the original site of Nanchang University was temporarily established. 1955 moved to Wuhan. During the adjustment of colleges and departments, Governor Shao Shiping asked the central authorities for approval. First, Jiangxi Normal University was changed to Jiangxi Normal University, and second, the biology department was retained.
1958, Jiangxi Institute of Technology and Jiangxi University were established; 1962, the Biology Department of Jiangxi Normal University was merged into Jiangxi University; 1965, Jiangxi University and Jiangxi Institute of Technology have begun to take shape; 7 departments of Jiangxi University, 12 major, Ruijin Branch; Jiangxi Institute of Technology has 4 departments and 9 majors. 1985, Jiangxi Institute of Technology was renamed Jiangxi University of Technology, and Jiangxi University and Jiangxi * * * Green Farm jointly established Jiangxi University * * Youth College. 1993 Jiangxi University and Jiangxi University of Science and Technology merged to form the new Nanchang University, which became the first doctoral awarding unit in Jiangxi Province in the same year. 1997, Nanchang university was officially listed as a national "2 1 1" key construction university. On February 29th, 2002, the foundation stone was laid for Qianhu Campus of Nanchang University. In 2004, the Jiangxi Provincial People's Government signed an agreement with the Ministry of Education, and Nanchang University was established by a provincial office. In 2005, Nanchang University and Jiangxi Medical College formally merged to form the new Nanchang University. On June 6th, 2008, 10, Nanchang University Solar Photovoltaic College was established, which is the first photovoltaic college in China.
