Sino-German College of Shanxi University of Finance and Economics, approved by Shanxi Provincial People's Government and Shanxi Provincial Department of Education, was jointly organized by China Shanxi University of Finance and Economics and Essen school of economics and management, Universities of Applied Sciences, Germany, and successfully enrolled students in the autumn of 2002.

Sino-German College follows the laws of international higher education, relies on the rich educational and teaching resources of Shanxi University of Finance and Economics and Universities of Applied Sciences (FOM), and adheres to the concept of international education, so as to cultivate compound applied senior professionals with broad international vision, solid professional foundation, strong cross-cultural communication ability and meeting the needs of global competition.

After graduation, students will receive a bachelor's degree from China and Germany, namely a bachelor's degree certificate from Shanxi University of Finance and Economics and a bachelor's degree certificate from Essen Universities of Applied Sciences. The college lasts for four years.
