Xiamen University is one of the earliest institutions offering higher legal education in China. In June, 1926, Xiamen University established the Law Department. For more than 90 years, the discipline of law has been adhering to the school motto of "self-improvement and Excellence", adhering to the policy of "building a school through democracy and learning" and carrying forward the style of study of "rigorous study, innovation and change". At present, great progress has been made in personnel training, scientific research, social services, international exchanges and cultural inheritance and innovation. College continues to maintain its dominant position in the fourth round of national discipline evaluation, ranking among the national A-class law disciplines and one of the seven A-class colleges in the school.

The college has established the "Applied and Compound Excellent Legal Talents Education and Training" base of the Ministry of Education, the theoretical research and talent training base of modern public legal services of the Ministry of Justice, the existing Fujian humanities and social sciences base such as the International Economic Law Research Center of Xiamen University, the new think tank with the characteristics of Fujian universities such as the National and Social Governance Rule of Law Research Center, and the research and innovation platforms of Fujian universities such as the Finance and Taxation Rule of Law Research Center of Xiamen University and the Legislative Research Center of Xiamen University. It has the innovation team of international law of Xiamen University, the research and innovation team of legalization of social governance and other research and innovation teams of basic theories of philosophy and social sciences under the guidance of Marxism in Fujian universities. There are Xiamen University Social Governance and Soft Law Research Center, Xiamen University Economic Crime Research Center, Xiamen University International Economic Law Research Center, Xiamen University International Tax Law and Comparative Tax System Research Center, Xiamen University Economic Law Research Center and Xiamen University Inner-Party Regulations Research Center. At the same time, 18 scientific research institutions have been established, such as the Institute of Civil and Commercial Law, the Institute of Roman Law and the Legislative Research Center. It has academic teams with advantages such as the rise of China and the development of international law, social governance and soft law, international tax law and comparative tax system, fair law and automation, legislative research, legal person neuroscience, and innovative teams in humanities and social sciences such as Xiamen University's economic crime punishment and economic criminal law innovation under the new economic background. Among them, the international law innovation team of Xiamen University was also selected as the innovation team of Fujian Province. As the first member of China, the Legislative Research Center of Xiamen University joined the International Legislative Association (IAL).

At present, the college has a post-doctoral research station in law, the right to award doctoral and master's degrees in the first-class discipline of law, and 1 JM degree point. International law is a national key discipline, and the comprehensive strength of international economic law ranks in the forefront of the country. In 20 10, UNCTAD selected the members of the international investment law "15 law school pilot project" (G- 15 law school pilot project), and Xiamen University Law School became the only institution selected in Chinese mainland. Civil and commercial law, constitutional law, administrative law and economic law are key disciplines in Fujian Province. 20 12 All disciplines of Law School were selected as key disciplines with Fujian characteristics and key disciplines at the provincial level. The Research Center for the Rule of Law in National and Social Governance was selected into the list of new think tanks with characteristics of universities in Fujian Province. The College has edited and published eight academic journals, among which Journal of International Economic Law and Research on Modern Rule of Law have been officially numbered.
