Hangzhou Dianzi University, referred to as "Hangdian", is located in Hangzhou. It is a university jointly established by the Zhejiang Provincial People's Government and the National Bureau of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense. It is a teaching and research university with outstanding electronic information characteristics and obvious advantages in economic management, with engineering, science, economics, management, literature, law and art permeating each other.

The school was founded in 1956, formerly known as Hangzhou Aviation Industry Finance and Economics School, and later passed through Hangzhou Aviation Industry School, Zhejiang Electric Machinery Institute, Zhejiang Machinery Industry School, Hangzhou Radio Industry Management School and Hangzhou Radio Industry School.

1980 was transformed into Hangzhou Institute of Electronic Technology with the approval of the State Council. It successively belongs to the central ministries and commissions such as the Ministry of Machinery Industry, the Ministry of Electronics Industry and the Ministry of Information Industry. In 2003, the original Hangzhou Publishing School was integrated and renamed Hangzhou Dianzi University in 2004.
