Fujian Radio and TV University is a new type of higher education institution, which uses advanced educational technologies such as radio and television, satellite communication and computer network, and adopts various media such as text, audio-visual and computer network courseware for distance and open education. It is an important part of China Radio and TV University.

Over the past 26 years, the school has insisted on running schools on demand, facing the local, grassroots, rural and remote mountainous areas, forming a multi-level, multi-specification, multi-functional and multi-form school-running pattern. The existing forms and levels of running schools include: open undergraduate education and specialized registered audio-visual students' education, ordinary junior college education that has passed the entrance examination of senior high school entrance examination, adult junior college education that has passed the entrance examination of senior high school entrance examination, and non-academic education such as post-university continuing education, single subject education, prairie fire education and job training.
