Xi 'an University of Science and Technology is located in the famous historical and cultural city Xi. Its headquarters is adjacent to the famous Wild Goose Pagoda. Lintong Campus, built according to high standards, is a "civilized campus" and a "garden unit" in Shaanxi Province.

The predecessor of Xi 'an University of Science and Technology can be traced back to the Department of Mining and Metallurgy of Beiyang University, which was founded in 1895. It has a history of higher education of 100 years. 1938, the Department of Mining and Metallurgy of National Northwest Institute of Technology (later renamed as "Department of Mining and Metallurgy") was established by the Department of Mining and Metallurgy of National Beiyang University Institute of Technology and the Department of Mining and Metallurgy of Jiaozuo Institute of Technology.

1In July, 957, the Mining Department of Northwest Institute of Technology was transferred to Jiaotong University, and the school moved from Shanghai to Xi 'an. 1958 September 15, Xi 'an Mining Institute was established on the basis of some teachers and equipment in the departments of mining, geology and basic courses of Xi Jiaotong University directly under the Ministry of Coal Industry.

Guo Moruo, former president of China Academy of Sciences, wrote the name of the university. China University of Mining and Technology (formerly Beijing Institute of Mining and Technology) was the only two five-year undergraduate universities in the coal system at that time.

1In August, 998, the State Council decided to transfer our school to Shaanxi Province, and implemented "central and local * * * construction, with local management as the mainstay". On June 9th, 1999, it was renamed as "Xi 'an Institute of Science and Technology" with the approval of the Ministry of Education.
