The predecessor of Shenyang Pharmaceutical University was the Chinese Workers and Peasants Red Army Health School, which was founded in 193 1, and then arrived in northern Shaanxi with the Red Army's Long March. 194 1 was named the Department of Pharmacy of China Medical University in Yan 'an, and 1942 became an independent college of pharmacy.
