Like other excellent old universities, Mount Ellison University adheres to its tradition of emphasizing quality over scale. In the 1960s and 1970s, when other universities in Canada continued to recruit more students, Montessori University was still small, which made the ratio of students to teachers relatively small, provided students with more opportunities to face professors directly, and deepened professors' understanding of students.
As a national leading university in undergraduate teaching, compared with other universities in Canada, Mount Ellison University has higher admission requirements, with an average score of 85.5 in the first two years. About two-thirds of applicants are eliminated in the competition for 700 places every year. In Canada, no university can attract a large number of students from other provinces, cities and countries to study like Monte Allison. Moreover, the enrollment standard of this school is not limited to high school education, but also pays attention to students' leadership skills.
Brief Introduction of the School of International Languages (ILI) of the Cooperative Language School of Mount Ellison University
ILI International Language Institute, founded in 1983, is one of the earliest large-scale language institutes in Canada, and has established cooperative relations with famous universities such as Cambridge University and Dalhousie University.
The college offers UP-English courses to provide students with the opportunity to be admitted to Montessori University, provided that their academic courses meet the admission requirements, but the language does not meet the undergraduate requirements, but they have IELTS 5.5 and TOEFL 530. This course starts in July (7.4-8.26) and1October (10.17-12.09) every year, and each course lasts for eight weeks, which provides an opportunity to improve English for preparing for undergraduate study in autumn and winter. However, if students don't have any language scores, they can enter a basic language course for four weeks and start every month. The school will test them at the time of application to determine the required class hours. After the successful completion of this course, students can enter the UP-English course, and after graduation, they can directly enter Mount Ellison University for undergraduate study without taking any additional language test.
It should be emphasized that no matter whether students apply for UP-English course or basic language course, they can get the conditional admission to Mount Ellison University.
