Hefei University of Technology is a national key university directly under the Ministry of Education of People's Republic of China (PRC). The Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the Anhui Provincial Government have established universities, and the National Defense Science and Technology Bureau and the Ministry of Education have established universities. The school was founded in 1945, and 1960 was approved by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China as a national key university.

In 2005, the school became a national "2 1 1 Project" key construction university, in 2009, it became a national "985 Project" dominant discipline innovation platform construction university, and in 20 17, it entered the ranks of national "double-class" construction universities. The school has four national experimental teaching demonstration centers, 1 national virtual simulation experimental teaching center and three national engineering practice education centers.

With the ambition of "serving the country through industry", adhering to the motto of "respecting morality, being diligent, being honest and innovative" and taking "cultivating backbone and leading talents with both ability and political integrity who consciously serve the country" as the overall goal of personnel training, the school has formed the characteristics of "strong engineering foundation, practical style and strong entrepreneurial ability".

The school cultivates and practices the campus culture of "patriotism, love for school, deep learning, unity and cooperation, dedication and pursuit of first-class", continuously deepens the reform of education and teaching, and continuously improves the quality of personnel training. The school has become an important base for national talent training, scientific research, social service, cultural inheritance and innovation and international exchanges and cooperation.

The school vigorously implements the strategy of "strengthening the school with talents", and currently has more than 2,300 full-time teachers, including academicians of the two academies 100, winners of the "Ten Thousand Talents Program", winners of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, winners of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, and winners of the "New Century Talents Support Program" of the Ministry of Education.

The school attaches importance to the all-round development of students' morality, intelligence, physique, beauty and labor, and the effect of talent training is remarkable. Since the new century, our school has won 12 national teaching achievement awards, of which our school completed 9 first. Four textbooks won the first National Excellent Textbook Award, and 1 person won the National Advanced Individual Award for Textbook Construction. At present, there are more than 32,400 full-time undergraduates.
