The marine engineering major of Dalian Ocean University has a wide range of employment, and the employment industries are mainly distributed in machinery, heavy industry, manufacturing, ocean, import and export trade, environmental protection, construction, military industry and other fields.

Marine engineering is listed as one of the 80 major majors in the transportation industry by China's Ministry of Education. The students trained by the Department of Marine Engineering are electromechanical all-around engineers who manage all mechanical and electrical equipment and power devices of ships.
