Beihua University Medical College is a key comprehensive university in Jilin Province. 1958 was renamed Jilin medical college with the approval of the provincial government, and began to recruit undergraduates. 1959 was reorganized into Jilin Medical College. 1973 With the approval of the Ministry of Education, undergraduate education was resumed and it was renamed as Jilin Medical College. 1999 With the approval of the Ministry of Education, Beihua University was established by Jilin Normal University, Jilin Medical College, Jilin Forestry College and Jilin Institute of Electrification, and became the Medical College of Beihua University. In 2004, nursing specialty and pharmacy specialty were allocated from medical college, and were established as Beihua University Nursing College and Beihua University Pharmacy College respectively. In May 2007, the school integrated the original medical college, the First Clinical Medical College (affiliated hospital), the nursing college, the pharmacy college, the clinical laboratory, the life science and biotechnology laboratory and the biomedical research institute, and established the Medical Department of Beihua University.
