As the name implies, Paris Normal University is a normal university. Its initial mission is to "train citizens who have been trained in practical knowledge, so that they can learn the art of teaching under the guidance of the most capable professors in various fields".
Over the past 200 years, Normal University has trained countless excellent teachers, hundreds of academicians of the French Academy, 13 Nobel Prize winners and 14 Fields Prize winners (the fourth in the world) for France, becoming an important research center of mathematics, science and philosophy in the world.
Normal universities only enroll more than 200 students every year, and they are not qualified to issue diplomas or have the right to award national academic certificates. Students must register with the cooperative university affiliated to Normal University and obtain the degree awarded by the university.
