The former Guangxi Institute of Technology was founded in Chancheng in 1958, merged with Guangxi Institute of Light Industry, Guangxi Institute of Mechanical Industry and Guangxi Institute of Petrochemical Technology in 1982, and moved from Nanning to Liuzhou in 1985. Liuzhou Medical College was founded in 195 1, and was upgraded to Liuzhou Medical College with the approval of the Ministry of Education in 2003.
