The history of Nanjing University can be traced back to Nanjing Imperial College in the first year of Sun Wu Yong 'an (258). The modern history of Nanjing University began with Sanjiang Normal School founded by 1902. After that, it experienced historical periods such as Liangjiang Normal University, Nanjing Normal University and National Southeast University. From 1949, it was renamed as National Nanjing University from National Central University, the highest institution in China during the Republic of China. 1920, the "female ban" was the first in China's national colleges and universities, leading the trend of coeducation. Southeast University, referred to as "Dongda", is located in Nanjing, the capital of Jiangsu Province. It is a national key university directly under the Ministry of Education and the Central Government of People's Republic of China (PRC). It is one of the old eight universities and the original four engineering universities, and the first batch of national double-class (Class A), 2 1 1 Project and 985 Project key construction universities. The predecessor of Southeast University is Sanjiang Normal School, which was founded in 1902. National Southeast University was established on the basis of Nanjing Normal University, with engineering courses, and then engineering courses went through the historical periods of Engineering College of National Fourth Sun Yat-sen University, Engineering College of National Central University and Engineering College of National Nanjing University. 1952 National faculty adjustment, with the former Institute of Technology of Nanjing University as the main body, merged into relevant departments of Fudan University, Jiaotong University, Zhejiang University and Jinling University, and established Nanjing Institute of Technology in the original site of Central University; In May 1988, the school was renamed Southeast University; In April 2000, the former Southeast University, Nanjing Railway Medical College and Nanjing Jiaotong University merged, and Nanjing Geological School merged to form a new Southeast University.
