I graduated from Northeast Agricultural University, majoring in Internet of Things Engineering in the School of Electrical and Information Technology.

Internet of things engineering is an undergraduate major in colleges and universities, which belongs to computer major. The basic study period is four years, and the bachelor of engineering degree is awarded.

This major requires mastering the basic knowledge of mathematics and other related natural sciences, as well as the basic theories, basic knowledge, basic skills and basic methods of computers, communications and sensors related to the Internet of Things, and cultivating senior engineering and technical personnel who can systematically master the theories, methods and skills related to the Internet of Things and have extensive professional knowledge in the information fields such as communication technology, network technology and sensing technology.

1. Professional knowledge

The Internet of Things project is a branch of computer science. With the advent of the Internet of Everything era, the Internet of Things project has attracted more and more attention. The knowledge learned in this major has something in common with computer science and technology, software engineering and big data. Among them, public courses include: advanced mathematics, discrete mathematics, linear algebra, probability theory, college English, college physics and so on. Specialized courses include: data structure, computer composition principle, computer network, computer operating system, C language, Python, JAVA, database, etc. , with characteristics. The courses of this major are very rich, and the courses taught by teachers are also very interesting. It is a subject that integrates computer hardware and software knowledge.

Learning this major, the class task is lighter than learning computer science and technology, and the requirements for code are not as high as pure learning software. Students only need to master one language skillfully. I mastered C language when I was an undergraduate. I often compile STM32 and 5 1 microcontrollers in C language, and of course I have played with other microcontrollers, but mainly these two.

Personally, I think this major is suitable for students interested in hardware. If you have a strong interest, it will be fun to study this major. Looking at the sensor every day and learning to build a complete system is a very happy process.

? ? At present, the Internet of Things (IoT) combines emerging technologies such as 5G and cloud computing, which can improve operational efficiency, reduce costs, improve decision-making and enhance customer experience, and can become a key driver of digital transformation in various industries.

Its main development prospects are:

Wearable technologies such as connected cars, predictive maintenance and healthcare will benefit the most from 5G. The ultra-reliable and low-latency communication (URLLC) capability of 5G and the support for TSN (Time Sensitive Network) are very important for the adoption of the Internet of Things.

The health care industry has long resisted the digital revolution, which lags far behind other industries. With the popularization of coronavirus pneumonia-19, medical Internet of Things technologies such as remote patient monitoring and medical robots are rapidly adopted, which brings great digital opportunities for Internet of Things solution providers.

Artificial intelligence (AI) technology is usually used to interpret and respond to some human-to-machine and machine-to-machine data streams in real time. The integration of AI and IOT technology gave birth to the concept of AIoT, that is, embedding AI technology into IOT components. Combining the data collected by connected sensors and actuators with artificial intelligence can reduce edge delay and increase privacy and real-time intelligence. This also means that less data needs to be sent and stored on the cloud server.

The employment direction of the Internet of Things mainly includes: facing the Internet of Things industry, from the design, development, management and maintenance of the communication architecture, network protocol and information security of the Internet of Things.

The main positions include: IOT system design architect, IOT system administrator, network application system administrator, IOT application system development engineer and other core professional positions, as well as IOT equipment technical support and marketing and other related professional positions.
