However, we have encountered a new problem: low reading efficiency-we can't finish reading a book in five days, and the promised reading plan has not officially started, so it ran aground.
When my friend heard about it, he gave me a copy of Tony Buzan's "Fast Reading", saying it would help to improve the reading speed.
I know only a little about speed reading-others may spend three hours reading, while "speed reading" only takes one hour. And my understanding of Tony Buzan is limited to mind mapping, only knowing that mind mapping was invented by him.
But when I opened this book, the first thing that caught my eye was that besides the head of Tony Bozan, there were so many titles with high gold content:
Turning to the end, I also found that Speed Reading is one of the series of mind mapping books invented by Tony Buzan. Then, I think mind maps have so many audiences and uses that speed reading can't be wrong.
I started looking through this book again, and after reading it twice. I find every knowledge point and method in this book very useful, but I'm confused again-how can so many knowledge points and methodologies be used again at once?
So, I try to simplify it-divide speed reading into two parts: reading speed and comprehension ability.
First, read quickly.

1, vocabulary reading in groups
Speed reading means that the faster you read, the stronger your understanding ability will be. Whether this method is right or not, let's try to read these two sentences first.
After reading it, you will feel that the first sentence, like a primary school student who has just finished reading, jumps out word by word. For adults, if they want to absorb more knowledge in a short time, they must use the method of the second sentence-vocabulary grouping.

2. Add a rule
According to the reading speed of ordinary people, the average reading speed is 200 words/minute, but if we want to speed up, the number of words read per minute will increase.
Under the conscious of deliberate practice, you can read one more word, ten more words, or even a hundred more words per minute, so that you can improve your reading speed in a short time.
3. Reduce reading and staring time.

4. Guide
People with reading difficulties can't concentrate. After reading a few lines, my thoughts drifted away. For example, when we were young, we would point to the words in the story book and read them word by word.
As adults, of course, we can't read as we did when we were children. Because the physical thickness and width of adults' fingers and palms have seriously hindered reading sight.
Then, at this time, we should choose a guide-a thin and long object, which will not block the reading line of sight, improve the concentration, and let the mind and eyes move with the guide, so as to speed up the understanding of sentences.

The essence of these two methods is the same. Skipping and skimming a book is helpful to understand the structure, main idea and key words of the book, and then you can look for topics with key words through the catalogue for rough reading. 3. Paragraph structure
For ordinary newspaper articles, it has a certain structure to construct articles. The beginning and the end are generally the key points, and the middle part is the details or arguments. In this case, you can look at the beginning and end first and skim the middle part. In a short time, you will understand the general idea of the article.
Step 4 read ahead
"Fast reading" emphasizes that pre-reading may speed up your overall reading speed and improve your understanding ability.
Through three methods: using the existing knowledge, actively interacting with books, reading like a detective, looking for keywords in the text, trying to piece together a whole picture.
5. Increase your vocabulary.
How deep your understanding is depends on whether your vocabulary is rich or not.
As we all know, every article is made up of words and phrases. It's ok to read familiar books, but it may be more difficult to read when it comes to professional books.
At this time, we will increase our vocabulary. Because the more words you know, the faster you understand them. At the same time, we will also find that some articles are very exquisite, with many levels of perception and high degree of reduction. For example, "red" can be understood as general "red", and it may also be rose red, orange red, Hong Tao actress, 1969, earth red, azalea red and so on.
Of course, by reading "speed reading", you will soon find yourself more and more confused-how can it take three hours to read 250 pages in an hour?
But this can be overcome by persistence. Because success can be replicated and it doesn't have to be innovative.
Luo Zhenyu's book Lifelong Learning once told a short story:
Reading 250 pages an hour is an assembly line for you. Just follow the book step by step.
